Project Breathe to aid pets in Westmoreland

WESTMORELAND — The dogs and cats of Westmoreland are a bit safer now that the Westmoreland Volunteer Fire Department has some new animal-friendly oxygen masks.

The department recently received a donation of three oxygen masks for pets from the Invisible Fence company, as part of their Project Breathe.

The reusable masks will fit both dogs and cats.

“Pet’s are people’s family,” said Firefighter Vincent Ouimette. “It’s just another way to increase protection for the community.”

Ouimette said the department received the oxygen masks free of charge from Invisible Fence.

They will be used for any animals rescued from house fires who may be suffering from smoke
inhalation.
