Library looking for donations for its 2020 book sale


CLINTON — Kirkland Town Library, 55 1/2 College St., is looking for area residents’ help in collecting items for its 2020 book sale.

Items in good condition can be left on the library’s back porch at any time. The library will accept hardcover books, paperback books, audio books on CD, puzzles, music on CD or vinyl, and DVDs. Donors are asked not to leave textbooks, video tapes, magazines, cassettes, Readers Digest books, or smelly, torn, old books. If you wouldn’t buy it, take it home. It costs the library to dispose of the items.

In Need of Bags

Consider donating some extra reusable shopping bags to the library. Patrons use them to bring their items home, and they help the environment.

Jewelry Donations

The Friends of the Kirkland Town Library are now accepting donations of jewelry for their annual sale on Friday, Nov. 29.

Art Show Opening

Thursday, Sept. 12 from 6-8 p.m.

All are welcome to an opening reception for Cris Lewis’ exhibit “Multi-Media Work.” Refreshments will be served.

Monday Movies

Sept. 16, 23 and 30 at 2 p.m.

Watch a recent release on the big screen. Popcorn will be served. For movie titles, check the library’s website.

Constitution Week Activities

Tuesday, Sept. 17 at 3:30 p.m.

Leslie Raney from the Daughters of the American Revolution will read a story as Martha Washington, help kids decorate cookies, and host other fun activities. For kids of all ages.

Downton Abbey Trivia

Wednesday, Sept. 18 at 6 p.m.

Lord and Lady Grantham request fans’ presence at at the library for a Downton Abbey trivia contest. Tea and refreshments will be served and prizes will be awarded to the winners. Contact the library to reserve a space. (Mrs. Patmore and Daisy would like to know how many to expect.)

Cookbook Club

Thursday, Sept. 19 at 7 p.m.

Each month, the group makes a recipe from a selected cookbook and brings it to a potluck dinner. This month’s selection is, “Now Eat This: 150 of America’s Favorite Comfort Foods All Under 350 Calories,” by Rocco Dispirito. Stop by the library to browse the cookbook, choose a recipe, and sign up. Then, join patrons on Sept. 19 for the meal.

Weekly Story Times

Wigglers for ages 0-2 on Tuesdays at 10:30 a.m.

Walkers for ages 2-3 on Wednesdays at 10:30 a.m.

Talkers for ages 3-5 on Thursdays at 10:30 a.m.
