Kirkland library to host pre-teen book club

CLINTON — Kirkland Town Library, 55 1/2 College St., will host a new book club for pre-teens.

Youths may now sign up for Tween Book Club, which will meet at 6 p.m. Thursday, July 25. The club is just for kids ages 9-12.

This month, members are reading “Wishtree,” by Katherine Applegate.

Contact the library by July 1 to sign up and get a copy of the book.

Reading Buddies

Sign up now. Buddies will meet on July 1, 8, 15 and 22 at 6 p.m.

The program just for teens and elementary-age students will bring them together over a love of books.

Elementary students who are beginning to read independently can get some extra practice with a fun reading partner.

Teens entering grades 6-12 will help their little buddies with reading and other fun activities. To sign up, contact the library or fill out a form on the library’s website.

Monday Book Group

June 10 at 1 p.m.

At this month’s meeting, the group will be choosing books for 2019-20. All are welcome.

Monday Movies

June 10, 17 and 24 and July 1 at 2 p.m.

Watch a recent release on the big screen. Popcorn will be served. For movie titles, check the library’s website.

Tech Open House

Thursday, June 6 at 6 p.m.

How do I download an e-book? Can I listen to an audio book on my phone? What is a podcast? Bring your tech questions and get them answered by experts.

Cookbook Club

Thursday, June 20 at 7 p.m.

Choose a recipe from the selected cookbook and bring it to a potluck dinner. This month, patrons are making recipes from “Latin American Street Food,” by Sandra A. Gutierrez. Stop by the library to browse the cookbook, choose a recipe, and sign up.

Baby Sensory Play

Friday, June 21 at 11 a.m.

Babies ages 5-24 months and their caregivers will explore, learn and play together with sensory toys.

Weekly Story Times

Note: there will be no story time on June 11, 12 and 13

Wigglers for ages 0-2 on Tuesdays at 10:30 a.m.

Walkers for ages 2-3 on Wednesdays at 10:30 a.m.

Talkers for ages 3-5 on Thursdays at 10:30 a.m.
