Kirkland Art Center offers free art supplies

CLINTON — Kirkland Art Center, 9 1/2 E. Park Row, has a treasure trove of arts and crafts supplies to share for free, and on Saturday, Oct. 24 from 1-4 p.m., the art center will open its doors to everyone who would like to come and pick up materials and supplies for themselves or their family.

The free-for-all includes new and used paints, yarn, googly eyes, frames, stickers, paper, fabrics, holiday items, crayons, sewing stuff, scrapbooking, chalk, and lots more.

“We hope that parents, art teachers, grandparents, artists, craftspeople, everyone — will come to pick up what they want,” said KAC Board Member Damhnait McHugh. “Especially as we head into the winter, we would like to help community members by providing what they need to get creative, keep the kids busy, express themselves, and make art.”

Masks are required and the art center will be open to individuals and groups of no more than two people, with distancing and capacity limits strictly maintained.

People should bring their own bags or boxes for the supplies they pick up. The event is free, although cash and check donations are welcomed by the non-profit community organization.
