Due to state and Centers for Disease Control pandemic guidelines, organizers of the Great American lrish Festival, which had been scheduled for the weekend of Sept. 19, have canceled the event.

The 2021 festival will be held in Utica’s Brewery District during the weekend of Sept. 17, according to the announcement by event organizers.

ln light of the cancellation of this year’s Great American Irish Festival, along with two other 2020 events of fellow lrish organizations the Central New York lrish Festival and the Syracuse lrish Festival, the board will work with the lrish Cultural Center to determine whether one or more smaller lrish events could be scheduled during the original dates of this year’s festival.

Organizers said if this idea is determined to be feasible, the activities would be held at the Irish Cultural Center, 623-601 Columbia St. in Utica, Sept. 19-20, possibly by enlisting some of the entertainers who were scheduled originally to perform at this year’s GAIF.
