CLINTON — The Hamilton College Department of Music will present an online video concert with Hamilton Voices at 6 p.m. Friday, Dec. 4.
This year, conductor Charlotte Botha established Hamilton Voices, an ensemble striving to create awareness of social issues through a variety of artistic media. Hamilton Voices has embraced technological collaboration and the creativity it unlocks to highlight non-idiomatic choral music by Black composers.
A true virtual experience, this concert features a selection of images, choreography, and light experiments set to recordings by the ensemble. The program features composers Zanaida Robles, Mason Bynes, Christopher Harris and Undine Smith Moore, along with Sten Källman’s powerful arrangement of “Peze Kafé,” a Haitian folk song about police misconduct.
A virtual chorus of more than 40 Hamilton College community members and friends join in for the final number, “Ella’s Song” by Sweet Honey in the Rock.
This concert is free on YouTube, available for 24 hours only beginning Friday, Dec. 4. Visit www.hamilton.edu/performingarts for the link. Call 315-859-4350 or email email@example.com for more information.
