NEW HARTFORD — First Source Federal Credit Union joined the national Giving Tuesday movement (#GivingTuesday) this year by giving each of its employees $50 to give to a local charitable organization of their choice. Together, they gave over $7,000 to 74 organizations in need.
“First Source has a long history of community involvement, giving back throughout the year on a corporate level,” said Pamela Way, First Source Community Relations Specialist. “We do have employee involvement and engagement, however, we really wanted to do something different for this national day. To help fuel the Giving Tuesday movement, and make it special for our employees, we put the donation power right in their hands to give back directly to causes important to them. The response was overwhelming.”
Each employee was given a list of non-profit, charitable organizations in Oneida and Herkimer Counties. They were asked where they would like to give and why. They were encouraged to share through their own social media to help spread the word, encouraging others to give.
“Our mission is to improve the quality of life of the members and communities we serve,” said Tom Neumann, First Source President/CEO. “We couldn’t think of a better day to help fulfill that mission.”
