UTICA — The fourth season of Levitt AMP’s Summer Music Series in Utica will kick off in Kopernik Park on Monday, June 24 at 6 p.m.
Concerts will be held each Monday in the park through Aug. 26. Organizers say the series allows residents to enjoy “a reinvigorated space, quality entertainment and building community together in a family friendly, alcohol-free environment.”
The Fabulous Mojos will be the first opening band of the series. Featuring Cathie Timian on vocals, this new six-piece band will dish up blues, jazz and soul.
17-year-old Maggie Stephens will be the featured youth intermission performer at 7 p.m. Stephens was invited to perform after her participation in the Utica Teen Sing Off event held last month at Handshake City.
At 7:30 p.m., Levitt AMP Utica will welcome The Claudettes from Chicago to take the stage as the first headliner of the year. The Claudettes fuse Windy City piano blues with the full-throttle energy of rockabilly and punk, jazz-age echoes of burlesque and neo-vaudeville and the sultriness of ‘60s pop-soul to write a thrilling new chapter in American roots music.
“Year four, we’re going bigger and better,” said Levitt AMP Utica coordinator Michelle Truett. “Diverse bands, unique activities. Plenty for everyone of all ages to enjoy. Once you experience it, you’ll want to come back every week.”
The concert series is presented by the Mortimer and Mimi Levitt Foundation and the Community Foundation of Herkimer and Oneida Counties with the support of premier season sponsors including Empire Recycling Corporation, Confidata and ERL Intermodal Corporation, MVP Health Care and the M&T Bank/Partners Trust Bank Charitable Fund. The weekly sponsor for opening night is Total Solutions.
