CLINTON — The Fayetteville-Manlius boys ice hockey team won the Clinton holiday tournament, smashing New Rochelle 12-1 Thursday, Dec. 27 then shutting out Clinton 2-0 in the championship game Friday, Dec. 28.
Clinton won 3-2 in a shootout against Aquinas of Rochester Thursday to advance to the finals.
Against Aquinas, the Warriors led 2-1 after two periods on goals by TJ Elsenbeck and Aiden Walter.
They gave up a third period goal to tie the game, however.
A scoreless overtime then led to a shootout, which Clinton won.
Dan Frank stopped 23 of 25 shots to earn the win.
Clinton fell 2-0 to Fayetteville-Manlius in the championship game.
Josh Trask stopped 36 of 38 shots in the loss for Clinton in goal.
Rochester Aquinas defeated New Rochelle 7-1 in the consolation game on Dec. 28.
Clinton travels to Auburn on Friday, Jan. 4 in a 6 p.m. face-off.
