Clinton fell in the sectional finals 6-3 to Skaneateles in girls ice hockey on Feb. 3.
Sophomore captain Mia Lopata scored twice and Alyssa Nardslico of Rome Free Academy scored her first goal for the Warriors. RFA sophomore Ari Williamson had two assists and VVS sophomore Perri Cronk had one.
Junior Luciana Robertelli of Notre Dame made 37 saves in the loss.
The Warriors beat Ithaca 4-2 in the semifinals on Feb. 2 to get there.
Lopata scored her third goal of the game short handed late in the third period to cap off the victory. Cronk scored her first Warrior goal in the third to break a 2-2 tie. RFA eighth grader Drew Kopek assisted on the game winner.
After trailing 2-0, the Warriors tied the game at the second period buzzer when Lopata took a pass in the slot from Kopek and fired a one timer past goaltender Caty Eisenhut.
Kopek finished with two assists, while RFA junior Elana Calicchia, Williamson and Cronk had one assist each.
Robertelli had 30 saves in the victory.
Lopata named first team all-star
Lopata, who verbally committed to play Division I hockey at Quinnipiac University, was named to the first team of the Section III girls ice hockey all-stars.
She has played in 11 games this season for the Clinton Warriors, with four goals and five assists.
The Clinton team is composed of players for almost a dozen local schools.
Eighth grader Drew Kopek (Rome Free Academy) was named to the second team.
Kopek has also played in 11 games, leading the Warriors in goals scored with five. She also has four assists.
Seniors Sky Walter (Clinton), Adriana Chapa (Oneida), Devyn Farrell (Holland Patent) and Bella Facciolo (Proctor) were honorable mentions from the Clinton program.
