CLINTON — Kirkland Town Library, 55 1/2 College St., will host an art show opening from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, May 9.
All are welcome to an opening reception for Sharon Burke and Vige Barrie’s exhibit, “Flowers, Forests and Small Works.” The show will be on view from May 1-31. Also at the library:

Third Thursday Cookbook Club

Choose a recipe from the selected cookbook and bring it to a potluck dinner. This month, patrons are making recipes from “The Africa Cookbook,” by Jessica B. Harris. Stop by the library to look at the cookbook, choose a recipe, and sign up.
Collaborative Art for Preschoolers
Friday, May 17 at 11 a.m.
Preschoolers and their caregivers can help the library make a big piece of art.
Participants will use fruits and vegetables to make a painting that will be displayed at the KTL show in June. Participants should prepare to get messy.
Happy Tails Reading Program
Monday, May 20, 4-5:30 p.m.
Kids in kindergarten through grade 5 who can read independently can take a turn reading to Captain, a trained therapy dog. Contact the library to sign up.
Collaborative Art for Kids
Wednesday, May 22 at 4 p.m.
Children and families will create a mural for the June art show at this unique workshop.
Grab a brush, make your mark, and then switch places with your neighbor over and over again until a truly collaborative work of art is created.
Getting Started With E-Books
Thursday, May 23 at 1 p.m. at Stone Church on the Village Green. Kirkland Town Library staff will present a class to teach how to download e-books and audio books for free with a library card. Plus, learn about everything else the library has happening. Contact the library to sign up.
Baby Sensory Play
Friday, May 24 at 11 a.m.
Babies 5-24 months and their caregivers will explore, learn and play together with sensory toys. Activities encourage language development, fine and gross motor skills, problem solving skills, and social interaction. Older siblings are welcome.
