William K. Schultz II, age 69, of Rome, passed away peacefully on September 16, 2018, with his loving family at his side.
He was born June14, 1949, in Rome, a son of the late William K. and Eunice Taylor Schultz, and graduated from Westmoreland High School. Bill was united in marriage to the former Kathy Armstrong on April 19, 1969 at St. Mary’s Church. He was employed at the Rome CNYDSO for over 38 years. He was a member of St. Mary’s Church, and a Past Chief and fifty year member of the Stanwix Heights Fire Department.
Bill had a passion for racing cars and was very proud of his silver Chevelle, which he restored with the help of his grandson, Brendan, who did all the body work and painting.
Bill is survived by his loving wife, Kathy; daughters, Tammy and Michael Bachmann of Farmville, VA, and Jennifer Carson and Ronald Orr of Verona; sisters, Karla and Jamie Carr of Tucson, AZ, and Terrie Haskett of Indianapolis, IN; a grandson whom he treated like a son, Brendan Schultz and his fiancee, Samantha Manolescu, other beloved grandchildren, Patrick Orr, Steven, Susan and Mark Bachmann.
The family wishes to sincerely thank the staff on the Clark West wing at St. Luke’s Home, and especially Vicki, for their care, compassion and friendship extended to Bill during his illness.
The funeral service will be held Wednesday at 5 p.m. at the Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home, Wednesday from 2 to 5 p.m., prior to the funeral service.
