The United Way of Rome and Western Oneida County is inviting community involvement to help decide which programs will share in the proceeds from the annual campaign that is almost complete, noted the agency’s Executive Director Alice Dearo.
The group has raised $174,369 in pledges for the 2017-18 campaign, 94 percent of the goal. “The campaign is not closed yet as there are still some organizations that have not notified us of their totals,” Dearo said.
Each community investment team volunteer will review the 21 online applications. There will be an evaluation form by which each application will be scored. The agencies will each have an opportunity to present their program in person to the team on March 3.
On the day of the meeting, volunteers on the community investment team will review each agency presentation and score that as well. There will be discussion to follow and the team will decide the outcome for allocation of available funds.
The people on the investment team will be responsible for which health and human services programs available for those in need in the greater Rome area will receive funding.
