We want to congratulate and thank everyone who participated in the various walks and runs that benefit the American Heart Association in its fight against heart disease and stroke. Their efforts, this year and years past, have given great recognition to our area for its long-term and “greatest” support of this worthy cause.
America’s Greatest Heart Run & Walk Weekend raised over $931,000.
Locally, more than 200 runners and walkers combined talents to raise $23,000 to battle heart disease and stroke at the Rome Run & Indoor Walk Feb. 24 at Rome Free Academy. The event was sponsored by Rome Memorial Hospital.
Different walk courses attracted different types of walkers: Leisurely, avid, and challenging. For runners there was an outdoor 5K.
Besides the exercise there were family activities, entertainment and vendors including health education.
To those of you who worked so hard to improve our cardiovascular health, many thanks.
