SPRING HILL, FL — Sylvia (Carello) Schaffer, 80, died on March 27, 2018. Sylvia leaves behind her husband Joel, a daughter Amy, a step-daughter Lauren, and a step-son Stephen. She also leaves behind sisters Faith Ann Carapella (Flesher) and Nettie Hartigan (Carello); brothers Dick, and Bob and sister-in-law Aniko; and many nieces and nephews that she loved deeply. Sylvia was predeceased by her mother Stella Carello (Flesher); her father Larry S. Carello; sisters Marie Thompson (Carello), Catherine Rapin (Carello); brothers Jimmy, Larry Jr., and Thomas.
Sylvia was born in Rome, NY and grew up in Sylvan Beach. Later in life she moved to NYC to work for Arthur Frommer (“Europe on Five Dollars a Day”). She traveled the globe for many years and then moved to South Florida in the late sixties with her husband and daughter. She then retired after selling their very successful printing business in Miami Beach and moved to the slower paced Central Florida area. Sylvia was loved by everyone that knew her and will be deeply missed. She was an outgoing, friendly, exciting, interesting, generous, and loving person. Sylvia will be interned in the Beth Moses Cemetery in West Babylon, NY, on April 22.
