Sr. Ann Marie Hayes

Sr. Ann Marie Hayes of the Suffering Servant, O.C.D., 62, was born in Rome, N.Y., the eldest child of James M. and Claire F. (Ver’Schneider) Hayes. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Mary of the Assumption Church and attended St. Mary’s School (class of 1970) and Rome Catholic High School (class of ‘74). She graduated from Siena College, Loudonville, N.Y. in 1978, then entered the Carmel of St. Joseph in Oklahoma City, where she took her final vows on July 14, 1984. The community soon moved about 20 miles to its newly built monastery in Piedmont, OK., where Sr. Ann Marie worked in and then headed the Altar Bread Department for many years.

Ann is predeceased by her father James Hayes. She is survived by her mother Claire Hayes (now of Rochester, N.Y.), brother Lawrence (Diane) of Rochester, sister Martha (Roger Sauterer) of Pell City, Ala., brother Joseph (Gail) of Liverpool, N.Y., her sisters in the Carmel of St. Joseph, nieces Jessalyn (Jeff) Bell and Megan (Rob) Badore, nephews Sean, Liam, Erik and Jack, aunts, uncles, and numerous cousins. She is buried in the Carmelite cemetery in Piedmont, OK.

A memorial Mass will be held at her mother’s current parish, St. Anne Church, 1600 Mt. Hope Ave., Rochester, N.Y. on Sunday, Aug. 12, 2018 at 2 p.m. with reception following.
