Sharon Drummond Soboloski, 70, of Rome NY, passed away on Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at her home surrounded by her family and the loving care of hospice. She was born July 27, 1947 the daughter of Ralph and Margaret Stocker Drummond.
She graduated from VVS in 1965. She later met Adam Soboloski the love of her life, whom she married on October 25, 1969. Together they raised three boys Aaron, Matthew and Mark. All of whom are Rome Free Academy graduates.
She dedicated her life to others; she was a caregiver from the time she married till she was diagnosed with lung cancer 2 years ago. Through the years, she has generously blessed others with her job as a caregiver for DDSO as well as many family and friends that needed a place to call home. This was her lifelong legacy by which many will remember her loving home and care that she provided for them.
She also served her church Grace Baptist throughout the years as Sunday school teacher to disabled adults to various committees until she was not able. She also was involved in the “Fresh Air Fund”, which blessed kids from New York City with time in Upstate each summer. She had varied interest the kept her busy, from cooking for her family to the earth metal detecting club.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Adam; her son Aaron, his children Nate and Carly, and their mother Kerri; her son Matthew and his wife Jill and their children Sarah and Adam; and her youngest son Mark and wife Jessie and their daughter Maddie. She was the only child but is survived her lifelong best friend who was a “like a sister to her”, Cora Schwartz and her husband Paul from Verona, NY. She has been blessed in her life with many cousins, brother and sister in-law’s and many nephews and nieces. Her cup “overflows” with the love of many family member and friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to call on Sunday December 3, 2017 from 3-6 p.m. at Prince-Boyd & Hyatt Home for Funerals, Inc., 210 W. Court St., Rome, NY. Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 4, 2017 at 2 p.m. at the funeral home.
