Rudolph rallies for first victory of season at U-R Speedway

VERNON — Erick Rudolph made a late race pass to secure his first modified win of the season during Autograph Night at Utica-Rome Speedway on Sunday.

Rudolph needed to hold off a late charge from second-place finisher Danny Varin in order to secure the win. Varin held the lead until lap 23 when Rudolph made his move to overtake him for the lead.

Marc Johnson, Pat Ward, Jeremy Wilder, Billy Whittaker, Bobby Herrington, Lance Willix, Rocky Warner and Jack Lehner rounded out the top 10.

Matt Janczuk earned his second win in as many weeks, picking up a win in the sportsman feature.

Travis Welch won the pro stock feature and Scott Mallette won the rookie sportsman feature.

Racing returns to the Speedway next Sunday night at 7.
