It is with deep sadness that we announce the death of Richard “Dick” J. Duesler, Sr. Dick passed away at Rome Memorial Hospital on February 18, 2018, following a long battle with Parkinson’s disease.
Dick was born in Utica, on January 3, 1936. He was raised in the Utica area and attended Utica schools. He proudly served in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged in 1958. In November of 1961, he was wed to Joan Donniez, and celebrated 56 years of marriage. He was employed by Niagara Mohawk Power Corporation for many years until his retirement in 1993.
Dick is survived by his wife, Joan; three children, Stacy and John Lohr of Rome, Alison May of Cincinnati, OH, and Richard J. Duesler, Jr of Town of Lee; grandchildren, Colleen and Patrick Blush of Rome, Robert and Christa Elliott of Vernon, Ryan Elliott of Rome, Eric Osborne of Chicago, IL, and Vance, Aniela and Cameron Duesler of Town of Lee; 2 great-grandchildren and one on the way. He was predeceased by his mother, Alice (Aniela) Siriano and stepfather, Harold Siriano; and brothers, Earl and Leland Duesler.
A memorial service will be held Thursday at 6 p.m., at the Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery, Taberg.
Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home, Thursday 4 to 6 p.m., prior to the funeral service.
