BOONVILLE — Peter D. Parrish, 83, State Rt. 46, husband of Naomi, passed away after a long illness, on Tuesday, February 20, 2018, at his residence, while surrounded by the loving care of his wife and family.
A native of Port Leyden, Peter graduated from Port Leyden Central School, served his country in the US Navy and earned a Bachelor and Master degree from Utica College of Syracuse University. For many years he taught various English courses at Adirondack High School, Boonville. Through his kind, patient and cheerful ways as a teacher and person, he was instrumental in encouraging many students to persevere and excel in their junior and senior high school years.
On August 3, 1992, Peter was united in marriage with Naomi Willson, at the Boonville United Methodist Church.
In addition to his wife, Naomi, Peter is survived by three sons, David Parrish, Pheonix, AZ, Stephen Parrish, Alabama, Jeramie Golden and his fiancée, Ashley Nestle, Barneveld; two daughters, Barbie Parrish, Port Leyden and Brandy Golden and T.J. Weiler, Marcellus, NY; twenty grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Peter was predeceased by a sister, JoAnne Parrish, a brother, John Parrish and a grandson, Brayden Lott.
His Funeral will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler St. Boonville. Calling hours are Thursday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home, where members of Charles J. Love Post American Legion, Harland J. Hennessey Post V.F.W. and The Tun Tavern Marine Corps League will meet for services at 7 p.m. on Thursday.
