Oneida girls plate 16 runs in third frame in rout

The Oneida softball team put all 16 of its runs on the scoreboard in the third inning to defeat Tri-Valley League foe Central Valley Academy, 16-0, in five innings at home on Friday afternoon.

The Indians pounded out 20 hits and did not commit an error.

Lauren Skibitski doubled twice and had four RBIs for Oneida, Kyra Shlotzhauer went 2-for-2 with a walk and three RBIs and Reilly White also doubled and drove in two runs for Oneida.

Abigail Carroll and Olivia Caroli also had two RBIs for the hosts and Emily Marshall and Bri Laureti finished with one RBI.

Shlotzhauer earned the win in the circle for the Indians, tossing four innings, giving up one hit while striking out 10 and walking one.

Oneida is 1-1 overall and 1-0 in the TVL.

Hoehn sisters lead Oriskany

Matteson Hoehn tossed a complete game and Maddelyn Hoehn went 4-for-4 for the Oriskany softball team as the Redskins defeated Center State Conference rival Westmoreland, 5-1, at home.

Matteson Hoehn gave up one run on two hits while striking out three for the Redskins and Maddelyn Hoehn doubled and had two triples and drove in four RBIs.

Courtney Donahue went 2-for-3 for Oriskany with a RBI. Aeron Hamm and Sofia Tagliaferri both went 2-for-3 and Tagliaferri doubled for the Redskins.

Julia Muller took the loss in the circle for Westmoreland and Emily Kernan went 2-for-4 and scored a run for the Bulldogs.

Clinton holds on

In another CSC softball contest, Clinton hung on to defeat Canastota, 10-9.

Sydni Dreimiller doubled for the Warriors in the win and Abigail King earned the win.

RFA wins tri-match

The Rome Free Academy girls golf team won a TVL tri-match at the Rome Country Club, defeating New Hartford, 221-246, and Vernon-Verona-Sherrill, 221-271.

Kaitlyn Mastracco shot a 50 for the Black Knights and Sarah Kirk added a 56 for the winners.

Olivia Evans shot a match-best 41 for VVS, and New Hartford’s Belle Previte shot a 43.

RFA is 2-0 overall and 1-0 in the TVL while VVS is 0-1.

Smithson records two wins

Cheyenne Smithson won the long jump and the 100 meter run for the Westmoreland girls track and field team during an 88-53 road loss to Cooperstown.

Smithson was also part of the 1,600 relay team with Jenna Pastorella, Kaylee Bertini and Danielle Flack.

Bertini also won the 400 meter hurdles, Kayla Lenahan won the 800, Samantha Sill in the shot put and Mia Lazzara in the 3,000 run.

Oneida sweeps Camden

In a TVL boys tennis match, Oneida swept Camden, 7-0.

Winning in singles action for the Indians was Aidan Hicks, Ajay Hicks, Seth O’Connell and Drew Hicks.

The teams of Scott Potter and Noah Savage, James Rositer and Kyle Fisher and Johnathan Lok and Jordan Farwell all won in doubles play for the Indians, who are 3-0 overall and 2-0 in the TVL.

Camden falls to 1-1 overall and 0-1 in league play.

Westmoreland drops CSC match

The Westmoreland boys tennis team fell, 3-2, on the road to Canastota.

Winning for the Bulldogs was Marcus Colon and Austin Daskiewich in singles action.

Westmoreland is 1-1 overall and in league play.

Red Devils fall to Spartans

In a boys TVL golf match at Crystal Springs, VVS fell to New Hartford, 184-237.

Jack Angelucci shot an even par-35 for the Spartans and Phoenix Weydig shot a 41 for the Red Devils.
