Joan Covel Noble Butler, age 84, of Piney Flats, TN., passed away on Saturday, February 17, 2018, at Wellmont Hospice House. She was born on September 14, 1933 in Utica, NY the daughter of the late Claude A. and Hazel Earley Noble. She was preceded in death by her brother, Ross J. Noble on June 22, 1972.
Joan was one of two children and graduated from Clinton High School in Clinton, NY. She attended State University College in Potsdam, NY where she earned a BS Degree in Education. Joan was united in marriage to Keith Melvin Butler on August 20, 1955 in Clinton, NY. She worked for the Clinton Central School System in Clinton and Clark Mills, NY for ten years and was a Medical Secretary in Johnson City, TN for thirteen years retiring in 1994. She was a former member of the USCGAUX, and the New York State Teachers Retirement System.
She is survived by her husband of sixty-two years, Keith Butler; her daughters, Barbara A. Butler, of Bluff City, TN, Sharon B. Wooster and her children Cole, Seth, Jake, Katie, Luke and Heather, of Smithfield, VA; her sons, Keith L. Butler and wife Terri, of Waterloo, NY and their children Justyn and wife Nisha, of Maryland, Nicole Gee, of Phelps, NY, Christopher and wife Tammy and their children Mia, Ian, and Noah, of Seneca Falls, NY, and Ashley Butler and her sons Nathanial and Logan, of Waterloo, NY, Richard F. Butler, of Piney Flats, TN and Robert M. Butler and wife Katherine, of Altamont, NY, and their children Emily and Melissa; one brother-in-law, Myron G. Butler, of Clayton, NY; one sister-in-law, Carol J. Noble, of Verona, NY; and four nieces and a nephew.
All services will be private.
