HOLLAND PATENT — The Holland Patent High School vocal, jazz, and string ensembles, under the direction of Rusty Ritzel, Brian Picente and Sara Chudow, respectively, will perform their annual cabaret at 7 p.m. Friday, March 23, and Saturday, March 24, in the high school auditorium, according to an announcement by the school.
This year’s show will feature rock and roll hits throughout the ages as well as skits prepared and performed by senior music students.
The three groups have been preparing rock songs since September. Voice ensemble will perform “Stomp Box,” “I Wanna Rock,” “H.O.L.Y.,” “Sing” and “Radioactive.”
Jazz ensemble has programmed a selection of funk and rock hits from the 1970s and 1980s.
Pieces include “September” and a medley of other Earth, Wind & Fire songs, “Billie Jean,” “We Are Family,” “Y.M.C.A.,” Day Tripper” and “Pick Up the Pieces.”
The jazz ensemble will feature Eva Capuana and Ethan Ellis as soloists.
String ensemble’s selections include “Sweet Child of Mine,” featuring guitar soloist Logan Cuda and additional solos by Emily Duda and Arianna Lange; “Thinking Out Loud;” Royals,” featuring violin soloist Morgan Fitch; “Boulevard of Broken Dreams;” and “Today,” original composition by Robert Gardner with cello soloist Emily Duda.
A Led Zeppelin Reunion will be a combined piece with jazz ensemble, featuring violinist Arianna Lange.
Tickets are $5 pre-sale, which can be purchased from any student performer or music teacher, or $6 at the door.
