The Home Builders & Remodelers of the Mohawk Valley’s annual home show is about much more than introducing consumers to local contractors, according to event organizers.
Each year, the groups aims provides attendees with insights and education in a fun, friendly environment, organizers said.
The Home Show 2018 will be a three-day show taking place Friday through Sunday at the Jorgensen Athletic Center on the Mohawk Valley Community College Utica campus.
The Home Show is open to the public. It will run from 5 to 9 p.m. on Friday, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday and from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, event organizers added.
Homeowners who are looking to sell their property will have the opportunity to learn about how to stage their home for sale and how to market it, the announcement said.
For those buying a home there will be a variety of presentations on the benefits of choosing the right realtor and the ins and outs of home mortgages will be offered, the event organizers said.
Some may be interested in home décor and design, so the group is presenting a session on international building show trends.
An informational session on the difference between home inspection and appraisal is also slated for this year’s event, with an attorney onsite at the Mohawk Valley Association of Realtors booth to answer homeowner questions.
Additionally, students from the MVCC nursing program will be on hand to provide blood pressure screenings and to teach proper handwashing techniques.
Attendees can also enjoy visits from the Utica Fire Department and Utica Police Department, and food trucks will be parked outside all day Saturday and Sunday.
As in years past, a shed will be built onsite at the show, and will be raffled off with proceeds donated to a local participating non-profit organization, organizers added.
