Gary Lee Croad, 75, of Rome, passed away on Wednesday, November 29, 2017. He was born in Buffalo on February 1, 1942, the son of the late Frederick and Elizabeth Howard Croad.
He served his country in the US Navy from 1959-1963.
Gary worked for several years at Oneida Limited before retiring from BOCES.
He was a member of the Rome Elks Lodge #96 and the New London Fire Department.
Among Gary’s favorite hobbies was stamp collecting, hunting, trout fishing, and camping.
He is survived by his longtime companion, Darleen Beadnell of Rome; two sons, Frederick (Stacey) Croad of West Monroe and Patrick (Clista) Croad of Taberg; a daughter, Jennifer Croad of Rome; a brother, Philip (Mary Lou) Croad of Durhamville; fourteen grandchildren; several great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews; and his oldest and dearest Navy buddy, Gus. He was predeceased by two sisters, Sandra and Joyce.
Gary’s family would like to thank the Drs., nurses, and staff at Colonial Park Nursing Home for their wonderful care and compassion.
