Frederick J. Martin, age 87, of the Town of Lee, passed away peacefully on August 6, 2018 at the Katherine Luther Home in Clinton.
Fred was born in the Town of Lee on July 2, 1931 to the late Edwin E. and Ruth Maurer Martin, and was educated in the Town of Lee schools. On July 5, 1952, he was united in marriage to the former Joan Carver at St. Patrick’s Church in Taberg. He retired from Orion Bus Industries, where he was a welder and sheet metal worker.
Fred was an avid gardener and was a member of St. Joseph’s Church in Lee Center.
Fred is survived by his loving wife, Joan; a daughter and son in law, Susan and William Simon of Floyd; two sons and a daughter in law, William Martin and his partner, Anthony Scalise of Whitesboro, and Scott and Mary Martin of Lilburn, GA; four grandchildren Melissa (Jared) Obernesser, Chelsea (Brian) Tillson, and Ryan and Natalie Martin; a great grandson, Luca Obernesser; a sister, Harriet Benn; a brother and sister in law, Chester and Donna Martin; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sisters, Ruth Martin, Alcina Sherwood, and Ella Manley; and his brothers, Francis and Edward Martin.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday at 1 p.m. at St. Joseph’s Church, Lee Center. Burial will be in Lee Valley Cemetery.
There are no calling hours.
