Dan Brubeck Quartet performs July 26

OLD FORGE — The Dan Brubeck Quartet will perform at 8 p.m. on Thursday, July 26, at View, 3273 Route 28.

Drummer Dan Brubeck introduces his parents’ little-known songbook. The second youngest of Dave and Iola Brubeck’s six children, he has a history of performing and recording alongside his famous pianist father, and had long wanted to explore some of the songs and textual settings that his parents collaborated on over the years.

The Dan Brubeck Quartet was created for performing the music on the “Celebrating the Music and Lyrics of Dave & Iola Brubeck” two-CD set. Based in Vancouver, Canada, the group features the vocals of Adam Thomas (also on bass), saxophonist Steve Kaldestad and pianist Tony Foster.

Over the years Dan Brubeck was featured on nearly a dozen albums with his father, and toured widely with the Dave Brubeck Quartet. He’s been a part of the various Brubeck bands, including the Darius Brubeck Ensemble, Two Generations of Brubeck and the New Brubeck Quartet.

Tickets are $35. Members and students receive a 10 percent discount. For more information, visit ViewArts.org or call 315-369-6411 extension 201.
