MJ Dakota of Oneida is putting in new sidewalks, curbs and asphalt at the corner of Fifth and East Dominick streets.
The company is finalizing the curbing and driveway work Friday, and should be essentially done with all work just in time for Thanksgiving. The contract is for about $326,000, the majority of which is coming from the federal Community Development Block Grant fund.
The company is working on East Dominick Street from Bissell Avenue to the 700 block of Dominick Street, as well as Fifth Street and along the Mohawk Street extension from Fourth to Fifth streets. The porous paving material to go between the sidewalk and the curb might have to be installed in the spring because of the temperature, but a temporary stone layer would go there in the meantime.
Alliance Paving is doing a companion project re-grading and re-surfacing the trail around nearby Pinti Field.
MJ Dakota’s project marries the trail to the sidewalks at the north and south ends of the park.
