Jimmy G’s Heroes take Mastraccio tourney

Jimmy G’s Heroes made up of Jim Guy and Greg Puccio won the Frank Mastraccio Memorial Men’s Doubles bocce tournament held at the Galliano Club on Saturday.

Mastraccio was a longtime member and officer of the club.

Toccolana #1 with John Rodriguez and Paul Louis Jr. finished in second and Eggan Environmental with Joe Puccio and Filippo Impicciatore came in third.

Local student-athletes win Petrillo Scholarship

UTICA — Three local student athletes are being honored with the Ted Petrillo Scholarship for Outstanding Achievement in Distance Running and Outstanding Commitment to Distance Running.

Each scholarship is worth $1,500.

Receiving the awards are Clinton runner Andrew Ford, South Lewis runner Hali Ielfield and Holland Patent runner Cheyenne Shoemaker. New Hartford’s Ryan Brooks is also receiving a scholarship. The four runners will receive free race registration and be seeded in the elite runners corral.

The scholarship’s will be award on Wednesday morning at a breakfast put on by the Boilermaker. Petrillo was a longtime Boilermaker volunteer who passed away last year.
