Rome runner Hale first in half-marathon

UTICA — Rome runner Geoff Hale won the half-marathon portion of the Erie Canal Race on Sunday.

Hale won the half marathon with a time of 1 hour, 18 minutes, 17 seconds. Boonville’s Erica Ready finished seventh with a time of 1:32:13 and Rome runner Matthew Muttillo finished 20th with a time of 1:37.38.

In the 5K portion of the event, Holland Patent 12-year-old Charles Howe finished second with a time of 21:04.

Remsen runner Andrew Page finished sixth with a time of 22:52 and Clinton’s Christophe Groves finished ninth with a time of 24:03.

Rome’s Christopher Pallas followed Groves, coming in 10th place with a time of 24:13.

Barneveld 10-year old Christopher Kelly finished 15th with a time of 25:20 and Barneveld runner Adam Kelly finished 19th overall with a time of 26:22. Holland Patent’s Andrew Juliano finished 22nd with a time of 27:17 and Remsen 11-year-old Heather Buchanan-Wise placed 24th with a time of 27:42.
