Rome JVs open softball season with win

In its season opener, the Rome Free Academy junior varsity softball team took home a 6-3 victory with a road win over West Genesee on Tuesday.

Elana Calicchia earned the victory for the Black Knights by throwing a complete game allowing the three runs on five hits and by issuing two walks. Calicchia struck out three batters. Offensively, RFA was led by Kiley Marlow who had three RBIs and Izzy Ionatti who also drove in a run.

Oriskany tops Westmoreland

The Westmoreland junior varsity baseball team dropped a 24-3 decision to Oriskany. Caleb Miller led the Bulldogs offensively, going 3-for-4 with two runs scored and two stolen bases. Donato Valenzano received the loss on the mound.

Westmoreland also lost to Clinton, 22-3. Josh Davis led the Bulldogs at the plate, going 2-for-2 with a run scored. Ty Rodriguez took the pitching loss.
