Rome Generals collect pair of victories over Syracuse opponents
The Rome Generals won both of their games over the weekend, recording an 8-0 victory over Onondaga on Sunday and a 20-9 victory over the Syracuse Spartans on Saturday. Both games were played at DeLutis Field.
In Sunday’s win, Chris DeGiacamo doubled and had a RBI and Luis Atiles, Shawn Tyler and Anthony Porrino also drove in runs for the Generals.
Josh Denison picked up the win on the mound for Rome, tossing 6 1/3 innings of five hit ball. Denison walked three and struck out three for the Generals.
On Saturday, Tyler led the Generals offense by going 5-for-5 with a double and six RBIs.
Matt Baker drove in three runs and Atiles finished with two RBIs.
Joe Pascucci earned the win on the bump, tossing six innings, giving up four runs on three hits while walking two and striking out five.
Rome is 13-17 on the season and returns to the field on Wednesday morning when they host Sherrill at 11 at DeLutis Field.
Silversmiths take loss
The Sherrill Silversmiths lost their 12th game of the season on Sunday, taking a 12-9 road loss to the Syracuse Spartans.
Michael Mathews took the loss on the mound for Sherrill, giving up seven runs on four hits and he issued two walks and struck out one.
Nate Cormier and Robert Armitage doubled for the Silversmiths and Cormier and Sean Doherty had two RBIs,
Robert Armitage and Reece Armitage had a RBI each, Clinton’s Matthew Fitzgerald finished with a RBI.
Sherrill is 15-12 on the year and returns to action on Wednesday when they take on the Rome Generals at 11 a.m. at DeLutis Field.
