RFA’s Swavely competes at national indoor meet
Rome Free Academy senior Ryan Swavely finished in 23rd place in the weight throw at the Indoor Track and Field Nationals held at the New Balance Track and Field Center in New York City.
Swavely had a throw of 60 feet, 6 inches.
Last weekend at the state indoor meet at Ocean Breeze in Staten Island, Swavely finished eighth in the weight throw.
Bowlers at states
Clinton bowler Meghan Doris had a six-game total pinfall of 1,093 for the Section III girls composite team at the state meet at the OnCenter in Syracuse.
Section III’s girls team finished in second place behind Section XI as Doris had a high game of 213.
Vernon-Verona-Sherrill bowler MacKenzie O’Herien finished with a six-game total of 1,048 with a high game of 192.
Bryce Betchel also represented VVS on the boys Section III composite team and shot a six-game total of 921 with a high game of 175.
The boys composite team finished in eighth place, with Section XI taking the crown.
The girls Section III Class B champion Camden team finished sixth at the states with a six-game total of 4,461 in the Division II school-division. Section VI’s Cheektowaga won with a total of 5,116.
Kyle Long led the Blue Devils with a 975 six-game total, including a high game of 182. Erin Bourgeois finished with a 971 total, rolling a high game of 171.
