Red Devils sweep TVL girls volleyball match

Vernon-Verona-Sherrill earned a home sweep over visiting Rome Free Academy in a Tri-Valley-League girls volleyball match on Monday.

Set scores were 25-12, 25-23 and 25-14.

VVS, 6-2 overall and in the league, was led by Kaitlyn Burback, who had four aces, 17 kills, three blocks and six digs. Emma Lehmann recorded two kills, 10 assists and five digs for the Red Devils, while Bailey Baker chipped in two aces, 13 assists and three digs.

For Rome, Giannah Guiliano recorded nine digs, while Rebecca Stone had five kills and three blocks.

The Black Knights dropped to 2-9 overall and 1-7 in league play.

Oneida earns league win

In more girls volleyball action, Oneida picked up a TVL victory over Proctor by defeating the Raiders 25-23, 23-25, 25-22 and 25-22.

Leading the way for the Indians was Schuyler Vecchiano with 25 assists and five digs. Shae D’Arcangelis recorded three assists and 13 digs and Megan Friske chipped in 10 digs and three kills

The Indians are 6-4 in both the TVL and overall on the season.

Westmoreland storms back

After dropping the first two games of a non-league girls volleyball match, Westmoreland stormed back to win three in a row against Holland Patent.

Set scores were 16-25, 16-25, 25-13, 25-12 and 25-23.

Gaby Ricci recorded 30 service points for the 6-4 Bulldogs and seven aces, while Jenna Pastorella tallied five aces, four kills, 12 service points and 13 assists.

For the Golden Knights, Victoria Lukushevich had six kills, 23 assists and three blocks and Kathryn Buchanan added nine kills and two aces.

Oriskany cruises to win

In girls basketball action, Oriskany cruised to a 52-32 Center State Conference crossover victory on the road over Morrisville-Eaton.

Jane Fahy finished with 12 points for the Redskins and Braelynn Merrell added 10 points.

Oriskany is 4-5 overall on the season.

HP rolls over Herkimer

In boys bowling, Holland Patent rolled over Herkimer 5-0 in a CSC match at Adirondack Lanes in Barneveld.

Josh Burkett had a match-high game and series for the Golden Knights, rolling a 245 game and finishing with a 627 series.

Golden Knights fall

In girls bowling, Holland Patent fell at home to CSC foe Herkimer 4-1. Madison Merrill rolled the match-high game and series for the 5-3 Golden Knights with a 169 game and a 388 series.
