Phelps leads Oriskany past rival New York Mills

Ricky Phelps dropped in a game-high 28 points for the Oriskany basketball team in its 79-49 win over rival New York Mills on Tuesday night at home in a Center State Conference Division IV league game.

Phelps made five threes and had 10 rebounds and seven assists in the win for the Redskins. Donovan Williams added 10 points and three assist for 3-0 Oriskany.

The Redskins return to the court on Saturday afternoon as they take on Cider Street rival Westmoreland at noon during an invitational at Rome Free Academy.

Moffett leads Red Devils

In a non-league contest, balanced scoring for Vernon-Verona-Sherrill led by Davey Moffett’s double-double of a game-high 27 points and 11 rebounds led the Red Devils to a 73-52 victory over Utica Academy of Science.

Nate Palmer and Dewey Roden both scored 15 points for VVS and Roden pulled down 14 rebounds. Palmer had eight assists. Jake Engler added 10 points for the Red Devils. VVS is 3-0 and will take the floor again on Tuesday night as they host Proctor High of Utica in a Tri-Valley League crossover matchup. Tip is scheduled for 7.

HP holds on for win

In a CSC crossover game, Holland Patent hung on to defeat Cooperstown, 57-55, at home.

DJ Harter scored a team-high 21 points for the Golden Knights in the win and Colin Corrigan added 12 points in the win.

HP is back in action Tuesday night when they host Sherburne-Earlville in a CSC contest. Tip off is scheduled for 7.

Black Knights fall to 0-2

Ethan Powell scored a game-high 23 points for RFA, but the Black Knights fell to Cicero-North Syracuse, 81-73, on the road.

TJ Behlin added 21 points and Tristan Hunzinger scored 13 for the Black Knights.

RFA returns to action on Friday night as they open their home season against Oneida in a TVL matchup. Tip is scheduled for 7.

Camden suffers non-league loss

Wyatt Palmer scored a team-high 12 points for Camden as they lost to Hannibal 39-37 in a non-league contest.

Carter Steria added 10 points for the Blue Devils in the loss.

Camden is back on the court on Thursday as they host Blessed Virgin Mary at 7:30.

Clinton falls at home

Tanner Deveans scored a team-high 17 points for the Clinton basketball team as they fell at home to Waterville, 68-47.

Matt Hobika added 12 points in the loss for the Warriors.

Waterville’s Dawson Williams scored a game-high 29 points.

Clinton is back in action on Friday night as they travel to West Canada Valley for a 7:30 contest.
