Lew Bennett baseball tourney postponed until next month
The Lew Bennett tournament put on by the Rome Free Academy baseball team in memory of the late freshman coach which was originally scheduled to be played on Saturday at DeLutis Field has been postponed because of the weather.
The tourney has been rescheduled for Sunday, May 6.
The tourney is named in memory of Bennett, who coached the RFA freshmen baseball team for 19 years and was also the coach of the RFA basketball team. Bennett passed away in 1990.
The field for this year's tournament includes host RFA along with Fulton, Oneida and South Jefferson.
Last season, the Black Knights defeated Oneida in the championship game.
