Houle leads RFA bowlers to TVL win over Camden

Sam Houle rolled the match high game and series for the Rome Free Academy boys bowling team in their 9-2 victory over Camden in a Tri-Valley League contest at King Pin Lanes on Tuesday.

Houle had a high game of 226 and rolled a 607 series for the Black Knights. Blake Butler rolled the Blue Devils’ high game of 203 and Ben Robbins had the high series of 485.

RFA is 2-0 on the season while Camden falls to 1-2 overall, 0-2 in TVL play.

VVS rolls to victory

Tyler Casler shot a match-high game of 268 and finished with a team-high series of 656 as the Vernon-Verona-Sherrill boys bowling team defeated TVL foe Proctor High of Utica 7-4 at the CAC in Sherrill. Bryce Bechtel added a 643 series for the Red Devils.

Clinton blanks HP

In a Center State Conference boys bowling match, Clinton blanked Holland Patent, 5-0 at Pin-O-Rama Lanes. Calvin Hooper rolled a match-high game and series for the Warriors of 226 and 625. Jake Morra shot a 170 game and finished with a 456 series for the Golden Knights.

RFA beats Camden

In a girls TVL bowling match, RFA beat Camden 8-3 at Lucky Shots. Sara Crisan shot the team-high game and series for the Black Knights with a 185 game and a 540 series. Erin Bourgeois shot a match-high 218 game and a 643 series for Camden.

VVS falls to Proctor

In another girls TVL bowling match, Proctor High of Utica defeated VVS, 9-2, at Pin-O-Rama Lanes. MacKenzie O’Herien shot a match-high game of 242 for the Red Devils and finished with a 572 series.

Oneida suffers first defeat

The Oneida girls basketball team suffered its first defeat of the season, falling 56-39 to TVL foe Notre Dame of Utica. Lauren Skitbitski scored a team-high 10 points for the Indians and Anna Hood pulled down 15 rebounds.

Indians swim past Raiders

In a boys swimming and diving meet, Oneida defeated Proctor, 91-70.

The 200-yard medley relay team of Aiden Hicks, Kyle Fisher, Lucas DiLego and Ajay Hicks won, and DiLego won the 200 freestyle and the 100 butterfly events for the Indians. Ella Ryan won the 200 individual medley for Oneida and Aiden Hicks won the 50 freestyle.

Fisher also won the 100 freestyle and the 100 breaststroke for Oneida and Ajay Hicks won the 500 freestyle event for Oneida. The 200 freestyle relay team of Paris Hoang, Ryan, Aiden Hicks and Ajay Hicks rounded out the victories for Oneida.

Black Knights win on road

Jackson Sorbello won the 500 yard freestyle event for the RFA boys swimming team as they defeated Sherburne-Earlville 58-40 on the road to improve to 3-0.

Sorbello anchored the 200 medley and 400 freestyle relay teams to victory. Also swimming in the 200 medley relay was Charlie Gilroy, Nick Jordan and Sven VanHousel. On the 400 freestyle relay team was Jerome Gordon, Jordan and Girlroy.

Nate Sletten won the 100 breaststroke for RFA and Tanner Brawdy qualified for the Section III meet while winning the diving event.

South Lewis loses

Rowan Russell won the 100 yard freestyle for the South Lewis swimming and diving team in their 91-60 loss to Lowville.

Russell was part of the winning 200 freestyle relay team along with Kad Sullivan, Adam Wright and Garrett Smith. Sullivan also won the 100 yard breaststroke for the Falcons.

Russell was also part of the winning 400 freestyle relay team with Skyler Biro, Harley Post and Randy Helser.
