Holland Patent edges host Clinton in field hockey rematch

Holland Patent field hockey scored the lone goal to beat Center State Conference rival Clinton 1-0 on the road Wednesday.

Natasia Plunkett scored an unassisted goal for the winner.

Clinton’s Julia Cicchinelli had six saves. HP’s Ella Buchanan made one save.

The two teams met in last year’s Section III Class C championship with the Golden Knights winning in penalty strokes.

HP improved to 3-1 overall, while Clinton dropped to 2-1.

VVS downs Whitesboro

Host Vernon-Verona-Sherrill defeated Whitesboro 3-2 in Tri-Valley League field hockey action.

Nicolina Castronovo had two goals and Arayla Garcia scored once for VVS. The team got assists from Micheala Johnson and Lindsey Foster.

Isabella Callahan and Sam Decondo each scored goals for Whitesboro.

Kelsey Wickham of VVS made five saves. Whitesboro’s Jessica Mahardy saved 11 shots.

Westmo-Oriskany falls in OT

Cooperstown scored in overtime to beat Westmoreland-Oriskany 2-1.

Coopertown’s Jackson Martz scored both goals and Liam Spencer had an assist.

Westmoreland-Oriskany’s Vlad Demidov scored with an assist from Camilo Cadena. Andrew Pysnik had 18 saves.

RFA takes care of VVS

The Rome Free Academy girls tennis team beat Vernon-Verona-Sherrill 7-0.

Singles winners were Maria Keeney, Cristina DeMatteo and Nocyia Logan.

Doubles winners were Kayleigh Sturtevant-Isabella Tharrett, Sydney Stamboly-Callie Ott, Abigail Call-Tailyn Frost and Shayla McMath-Kelsey McCaskill.

HP blanks Litte Falls twice

The Holland Patent girls tennis team beat Little Falls 4-0 and 4-0 in two matches.

Singles winners in both matches were Emma Shoemaker, Emily DePasquale and Sara Mierek.

In doubles, Ashley Olney and Madison Parks were victorious in both matches.

Westmoreland victorious

The Westmoreland girls tennis team beat Herkimer 5-0.

In singles, winners were Mkayla Tierney, Lauren Murphy and Isabella Barretta.

Doubles winners were Olivia Golden and Isabella Ricci and Jordan Carroll and Autumn Millington.

Oneida blanks Proctor

The Oneida girls tennis team beat Proctor High of Utica 7-0.

Singles winners were Lauren Skibitski, Sydney Lusher and Kathryn Brown.

In doubles, winning pairs were Molly Moyer and Emily Marshall, Mattie Hicks and Sophia Skinner, Kaylyn Curro and Sophia Docous and Mikah Albro and Hannah Myatt.

Whitesboro beats Camden

Whitesboro downed Camden 6-1 in girls tennis.

Singles winners were all from Whitesboro: Olivia Nixon, Kristina Kuts and Kara Burnett.

Doubles winning teams were Kylie Cleary and Karlie Cubino of Whitesboro, Olivia McArthur and Shelby Miller of Whitesboro, Yanna Pavlyukovets and Kaitlyn Williams of Whitesboro and Jordan Babcock and Gianna Castelluzzo of Camden.

Clinton falls to Canastota

Canastota defeated Clinton in girls tennis 4-1.

Singles winners were Mei Cassidy-Heekin of Clinton and Kacey Cashel and Emmalee Warner of Canastota. Doubles winners were the Canastota pairs of Logan Hood and Skyler Donley and Alyse Stockbridge and Valona Whitehead.
