On April 29, the DIRTcar Pro Stock Series comes to the Vernon oval to kick off their season.

A highlight of the season is the New Yorker 100 scheduled to return to Utica-Rome on Mother’s Day, May 13. Two weeks later, on May 27, the Super Sprints return for their annual Memorial Day show.

June 2 will feature a King of Dirt tripleheader as the 358-modifieds compete in the Victoria $2,000 to win main event. There will also be a $1,000 feature of the King of Dirt Sportsman and a $600 to win main event for the King of Dirt Pro Stocks on the program.

There will be no racing on June 9 due to the FrogFest country music event.

Pro stocks will be be featured when the second annual Gene Kotary Memorial is held on July 1. The card will also include the DIRTcar 358 modifiers and sportsman and rookie sportsman events. A demolition derby is included on the July 22 racing program.

The August calendar includes a Friday night program on Aug. 17 as former NASCAR driver Tony Stewart’s All-Star Circuit of Champions Series for the 410 sprints returns to the speedway for the third time. The 358 modifieds will also be on hand for a non-point event paying $2,000 to the winner.

The final Sunday night program of the season is scheduled Labor Day Weekend on Sept. 2 when the Lucas Oil Empire Super Sprints are joined on the card by the DIRTcar 358 modifieds, sportsman, rookie sportsman and pro stocks.

The season concludes on Oct. 2 with the Tuesday Night Tailgate Super DIRT Week Special featuring the DIRTcar 358 modifiers, the Cole Cup for 360 sprints and the $1,000 to win DIRTcar Sportsman Fall Championship Series.

In an offseason move that was made by track officials to help attract more drivers to the track, Utica-Rome is changing from big block modifieds to small block modifieds this year.

The small block engines are much less expensive to run than the big blocks.

In addition to car racing, AMA Motocross will have programs on the new motocross track on Aug. 19, Sept. 16 and Oct. 22.

The New York Hot Farm Tractor Pull Series is slated Saturday, July 28, and the Shootout Productions Inc. Truck Pulling Series makes an appearance on Friday, Aug. 24. A 315 truck meet is also scheduled on Sept. 29.
