Generals reach .500 mark with NYCBL win over Salt Cats

The Rome Generals moved to .500 on the season with their record of 9-9 with a 9-5 victory over New York Collegiate Baseball League foe Syracuse Salt Cats on Friday night at DeLutis Field.

Ryan Mostroller, Joe Bramanti and Donald Stokes all doubled for the Generals and Mostroller had two RBIs. Kenny Michael, Bramanti, Stokes, Thomas Diskin and Alex Vasquez all had RBIs for Rome as well.

Rome hosts the Syracuse Spartans on Sunday night at 6:30.

Sherrill squanders lead

The Sherrill Silversmiths held a 3-1 lead heading into the seventh inning, and lost it as the Onondaga Flames scored three runs in both the seventh and eighth en route to a 7-3 victory.

Dewey Roden drove in a run for 9-9 Sherrill.

Ryan Cooper took the loss, tossing 6 2/3 innings, giving up four runs on five hits while walking two and striking out four.

Sherrill returns to action tonight at 7 as they travel to Syracuse to take on the Salt Cats.
