Comets blanked on road by Thunderbirds in AHL clash
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. — The Utica Comets were shut out by American Hockey League foe Springfield, 4-0, on Saturday night.
Anthony Greco scored the opening goal of the game for Springfield midway through the first period.
Alexandre Grenier doubled the Thunderbirds’ lead six and a half minutes into the second period after he scored on a power play. Jayce Hawryluk scored Springfield’s third goal and Sam Kurker scored 30 seconds later in the second period to wrap up the scoring output.
Richard Bachman made 27 saves in taking the loss, bringing his record to 10-11-4 on the year.
The Comets return to action on Friday night as they host Laval at 7 at the Utica Memorial Auditorum.
