Camden’s rally falls short in football crossover loss
CORTLAND — Kaden Gabler threw two fourth-quarter touchdown passes, but the Camden football team’s rally was cut short as the Blue Devils lost to Cortland, 23-13, on Friday night in a Class B crossover contest.
Gabler hooked up with Gavin Vera for a 66-yard touchdown pass and Tyler Parent on a 37-yard touchdown pass. Gabler finished the game completing 12-of-20 pass attempts for 208 yards and the two touchdowns. Vera finished as the Blue Devils leading receiver with three catches for 81 yards including the touchdown. Parent had two catches for 48 yards and the score.
Josh Mayden was the leading rusher for the Blue Devils, finishing with 34 yards on nine carries and Jared Barker had 30 yards on three carries.
Defensively, Camden was led by Barker who made nine tackles including 31/2 for losses. Tybarius Harter added 6 1/2 tackles for the 2-5 Blue Devils.
Camden falls to 2-5 on the season and will host Holland Patent on Wednesday night at 6 in the season finale for both teams.
