Boilermaker announces Charity Bib partners
UTICA — Boilermaker Road Race officials on Tuesday announced 2018 Charity Bib partners from a pool of non-profit applicants.
The 10 organizations chosen are: Abraham House, Compassion Coalition, Food Bank of CNY, Griffin’s Guardians, Johnson Park Center, Joseph Michael Chubbuck Foundation, The Root Farm, Salvation Army, Stanley Theatre and Young Scholars.
The organizations were selected by a committee of volunteers organized by Boilermaker Community Outreach director Rebecca Kearns. Since its inception in 2013, the Charity Bib program has raised over $500,000 for area non-profits, according to race organizers.
Organizers also announced the Boilermaker will be conducting its second Run for U fundraising campaign during 2018 race registration. The campaign raised over $25,000 for the Boilermaker Urban Initiative last year. While registering for the race, runners will have the option to make a donation.
The Boilermaker Urban Initiative is the organization’s own community outreach arm which aims to improve the lives and health of Utica residents through the Boilermaker Urban Garden, Boilermaker Public Market and Boilermaker Kids in Training programs, all of which kicked off during the summer of 2017.
More information on the Boilermaker Urban Initiative and its programs can be found online at: boilermaker.com. The 41st running of the Boilermaker Road Race will take place on Sunday, July 8. Early-access registration will begin on Thursday at noon, and open registration will begin on Saturday, March 17, at noon.
