17-1 Holland Patent girls soccer team reaches semis
Holland Patent’s girls soccer team is headed to the Section III Class B semifinals after beating Vernon-Verona-Sherrill, 3-0, on Saturday.
The 17-1 Golden Knights were led by Rory Richard’s goal and assist and goals from Anna Dornburgh and Hannah Bochniak.
Hayden Roberts made seven saves to record the shutout.
Morgan Brewer had nine saves for the Red Devils in the loss.
Holland Patent will play fifth-seeded Westhill at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday at VVS.
Clinton edged VVS, 1-0, in the Class C field hockey semifinals and will square off against Camden in the finals Sunday.
Roxee Hughes scored the lone goal of the contest.
Julia Cicchinelli made three saves for the shut out victory.
Kelsey Wickham had three saves for VVS.
Alberico powers Camden
Camden knocked Canastota out of the Class C field hockey tournament, 6-0, and set a school record for scoring in the process.
The top-seeded Blue Devils got three goals from Delaney Alberico, who also had an assist. Abby and Emily Walker both scored, as did Mercedes Currie. Mackenzie Mix and Lily Sullivan both had assists. Kelsey Barbato did not face any shots on goal for Camden.
The game time against Clinton in the finals has not been announced yet.
Camden set a school for most goals in a season. The team’s 105 goals breaks the 2014 team’s record of 101.
SL swimmers seventh
South Lewis finished seventh in the Frontier League championship swimming and diving meet.
Junior Kayley Walsh finished third in the 100 butterfly as the Falcons’ top finisher.
