Griffiss center plans new operating rooms
The outpatient surgery center in Griffiss business park plans to add two operating rooms.
Griffiss Surgery Center, 105 Dart Circle, is making plans to outfit and equip 6,500 square feet of vacant space as two multispecialty ambulatory surgery operating rooms and associated support facilities.
The center initially focused on eye-related procedures, opening as the Griffiss Eye Surgery Center in 2012, and later expanded into other areas, including plastic and cosmetic, and gynecological surgeries.
In conjunction with the project, whose cost is estimated at about $2 million, incentives totaling $96,565 have been approved by the Oneida County Industrial Development Agency. The center, operated by Griffiss EC, LLC, received a sales tax break on furnishings and equipment bought for the project and a mortgage recording tax waiver.
The additional operating rooms will boost employment at the center by the equivalent of 11 full-time jobs.
