Rome’s Kramer takes over helm of New Hartford football team
Congratulations to Jim Kramer for becoming the head football coach at New Hartford High School.
Jim lives in Rome with his beautiful wife Sara and two children. Jim played quarterback for Oneida High School (1999) and for the last few years he was on the staff at Utica College. Sara (Carollo) played on the Rome Free Academy field hockey team in 1999 and studied at Fairfield University and is now a teacher for the Rome City School District.
Tidbits: Did you know that Jim’s uncle was the late Frank Didio?
Jim played college football at Springfield where he played wide receiver.
Jim comes from a very athletic family from Oneida and the Kramer family of five children were all outstanding athletes. His sister Katie is the varsity basketball coach at Oneida and one of the best players of all time for the Lady Indians.
Ashley D’Amore is a good friend of mine and has just been hired by the city of Rome as the New Community Development adviser. She has spent her summers growing up with us on Fourth Lake and she loves Eagle Bay.
Did you know Ashley played varsity basketball for RFA back in 2012-13? She went on to play college hoops at Keuka College where her career was hampered by knee surgery. She was a very good player and loves the game. She is coming to my camp in a few weeks to play me in a game.
Tedd and Ann Kehoe are the proud grandparents of Ashley and have never missed a game.
Matt Campbell shot a 62 at Teugega County Club for a course record last Wednesday. A 30 on the back nine was unbelievable.
My biggest regret in life is back in the day when I played high school basketball there was no three-point shot.
Geek of the week: Richard Sherman of the Seattle Seahawks. He wants the NFL players to strike for bigger salaries. OMG! He is clueless!
Pick of the week: Rory McIIroy to win the British Open next week.
Rome sport nickname: Jason McCorduck 1992 RFA baseball and basketball athlete. “Duck.” Jason lives in Charlotte, NC, and loves life in the South.
I had my 70th birthday last week and many of my old friends sent me birthday greetings. I’m at a point in my life where I just want my family happy, my faith strong, my health good, my mind right, my abs tight and no unnecessary drama.
