Randolph to rock State Fair Aug. 23
Noted steel guitar player Robert Randolph will perform with his Family Band at Chevy Court at 2 p.m. during the New York State Fair’s Preview Day Wednesday, August 23. The concert is free, and admission to the fair that day is $1.
Randolph’s latest single, “Love Do What It Do,” features vocals by country music superstar Darius Rucker. “(The song) is about the mysterious power of love and how it transforms and connects people,” Randolph said. “Love is a natural thing - how beautiful is that?”
Randolph and the Family Band first gained national attention in 2002 with their debut album, “Live at the Wetlands.” Rolling Stone named him one of the 100 greatest guitarists ever. He has worked with Eric Clapton, Dave Matthews, Jack White and The Roots. Randolph previously appeared at Chevy Court in 2010.
“Robert Randolph’s music is about love and having a good time together,” acting Fair Director Troy Waffner said.
The State Fair will host a diverse lineup this year. Featured acts include 3 Doors Down, Aug. 23 at 8 p.m.; Peter Noone, Aug. 28 at 2 p.m.; The Marshall Tucker Band, Aug. 29 at 2 p.m., and Taylor Dayne, Aug. 30 at 2 p.m.
A year-round schedule of events is available on the fair’s website.
