2018 Mike Martin golf event to aid Community Memorial
HAMILTON — The Community Memorial Foundation once again will host the Mike Martin Memorial Golf Tournament on Monday, June 18, to benefit Community Memorial Hospital. The theme of this year’s event is “Tee It Up for Telemetry.” Proceeds will support buying patient monitoring equipment.
Golfers will play the Colgate University Seven Oaks Golf Course in Hamilton. This year’s event marks the third year for the event which was named to remember a long-time and dedicated volunteer, Mike Martin, who died in October 2016. Deeply committed to the Hamilton area, Martin served on the board of the Community Memorial Foundation and chaired the tournament in its very successful inaugural year.
He also served on several local committees spearheading economic initiatives, and actively volunteered for Colgate University. Martin was a 1964 graduate of Rome Free Academy and Colgate University in 1969.
David Buran honorary chair of the tournament recently retired as the Director of the Foundation after seven years of service. Bob “Tybo” Tyburski is leading a dedicated committee that is organizing the details of the event. The committee members are encouraging area businesses to sign up for one of the few remaining sponsorship opportunities, which assists in the purchase of telemetry equipment. “Telemetry provides continuous electronic monitoring of patient heart rate, heart rhythm, and breathing at the bedside and to a location such as a nursing station. This equipment is a useful tool for our medical staff and enhances the quality of care for our patients at Community Memorial,” said by Tyburski.
Sponsorship opportunities are still available online at https://www.communitymemorial.org/foundation/ or call the foundation office at (315) 824-7036.
The Mike Martin Memorial Golf Tournament is locally supported by Sodexo, Signature Partner, Practice Resource, Dinner Sponsor, CRM Management, Reception Sponsor, MLMIC, Lunch Sponsor, and Kinney Drugs Foundation, as the Photo Sponsor.
