NOSTALGIA ON THE TRACKS — A special train with about 20 privately owned vintage rail cars crosses Mapledale Road Thursday. The train originated in Albany and was being pulled by an Amtrak engine, according to the Adirondack Scenic Railroad, along which the train was traveling for part of its nine-day trip that includes heading to Vermont. The age of the rail cars extended from 1911 to the 1950s, with owners ranging from retired railroaders to business owners. Amtrak offers opportunities for privately-owned rail/train cars to be attached to Amtrak trains between specified locations, for a fee. (Sentinel photo by John Clifford)
