Troops, music open house for children at Salvation Army

The Salvation Army of Rome, 410 W. Dominick St., will hold a Troops and music program open house from 6-7:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Troops, where children earn badges, make crafts and participate in other educational activities, will be held 5-7 p.m. on Tuesdays. Programs are designed to foster learning, creativity and fellowship.

The age breakdown of Troops is as follows:

  • Moonbeams: Boys and girls ages 4-5
  • Sunbeams: Girls in grades 1-5
  • Adventure Corps Explorers: Boys in grades 1-4
  • Adventure Corps Rangers: Boys, grades 5-8
  • Girl Guards: Girls, grades 6-12

A music program will be held at the center from 5-7 p.m. Wednesdays where children can learn to play a musical instrument, sing in a choir and learn music theory.

Instruments offered are: brass instruments (trumpet, trombone, tuba, etc.), guitar, Singing Company and dance.

Both programs are limited, so those interested should sign up at the open house.
